The challenge

To address potential risks and hazards associated with the project during the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) phase, Process Risk Consulting were commissioned to facilitate the Project Risk Assessment, Hazard Identification (HAZID), Environmental Identification (ENVID), Simultaneous Operations (SIMOPS), Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) and Safety Integrity Level (SIL) Allocation Workshops , in line with ENI Guidelines for the Protos pipeline and associated facilities.

The scope of workshop included all of the onshore transport and storage facilities including several onshore pipelines and Above Ground Installations (AGI’s).

As part of the HyNet North West Low Carbon Project, Eni will develop and operate offshore and onshore transportation and storage of CO2 captured from industrial sites in Northwest England at the Liverpool Bay offshore oil and gas facilities in line with its mission to transition towards a low-carbon future.Â

The Protos pipeline is one of several pipelines being installed as part of the Carbon Capture network.

The challenge

To address potential risks and hazards associated with the First of A Kind (FOAK) project during the Pre Front End Engineering Design (Pre-FEED) phase, Process Risk Consulting were commissioned to facilitate a Hazard Identification (HAZID) and Environmental Identification (ENVID) Workshops.

The scope of workshop included tie-ins with suppliers of Hydrogen, Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and raw water along with specialised vendor processes such as Fischer-Tropsch.

In addition to this, Process Risk Consulting prepared a Bowtie of the various hazards associated with Hydrogen and CO2 for the facility to visually represent the hazards and mitigations.

Using the outputs of the HAZID, ENVID and Bowtie studies, Process Risk Consulting prepared a Major Accident Hazards (MAH) register to allow designers of the next phase of the project to clearly identify what the MAH associated with the facility are and the required protections they would need to consider within the design.

The West Nile Delta (WND) development includes 25 wells producing gas to the onshore processing plant via three long-distance subsea tie-backs. The onshore facilities have a total gas processing capacity of around 1.4 billion standard cubic feet of gas per day. All of the gas produced is fed into Egypt’s national grid.

The challenge

As part of the upgrades within the BP WND facility, BP are undergoing a number of redevelopments and upgrades. As part of this a number of equipment items are being decommissioned, deconstructed, removed and replaced.

To address potential risks and hazards associated with the decommissioning, deconstruction and removal of the equipment items as part of the project , Process Risk Consulting were commissioned to facilitate a Hazard Identification (HAZID) and Environmental Identification (ENVID) Workshops.

In addition to the facilitation of the HAZID and ENVID workshops, Process Risk Consulting also developed a Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) Management Plan to cover the decommissioning and deconstruction activities.

The challenge

To address potential risks and hazards associated with installation ESP’s on the existing platforms, and installing completely new platforms with ESP’s, Process Risk Consulting were instructed with the task of chairing a series of Safety Study to identify the hazards that could lead to overpressure pressure scenarios in order to ensure that the High Integtiy Protection System (HIPS) can protect against them. This was done through chairing a series of Overpressure Process Hazard Analysis (OPHA) (also known as a HAZOP) and an Overpressure Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA) for the entire network of platforms going upto the onshore Gas Oil Separation Plant (GOSP).
