Process Risk Consulting is excited to announce a new framework agreement with Eni UK, a leading player in the UK’s Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) sector. This collaboration strengthens our role in ensuring safety and risk management for multiple CCUS projects currently under development.
Our Role
Under this agreement, we will facilitate a series of safety workshops throughout the feasibility and Front End Engineering Design (FEED) stages. These sessions include:
- Hazard Identification (HAZID) to identify high level potential process, layout and projects risks early.
- Environmental Identification (ENVID) to assess environmental impacts.
- Project Risk Assessments to evaluate potential project threats and opportunities.
- Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies to enhance operational safety.
- Safety Integrity Level (SIL) workshops to determine necessary safety function requirements.
By proactively identifying risks, we help design safer and more efficient CCUS infrastructure while ensuring regulatory compliance.
The CCUS Process
CCUS technology captures carbon dioxide (CO₂) from industrial processes and stores it underground to reduce emissions. These projects handle CO₂ in gaseous, liquid, and dense phases, requiring advanced safety measures. The process involves:
- Capturing CO₂at industrial facilities.
- Compressing and transporting CO₂ through dedicated pipelines.
- Delivering CO₂ to offshore platforms for secure underground storage.
With strict safety protocols, CCUS can significantly contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Why This Agreement Matters
As the UK expands its CCUS capacity, ensuring safety and compliance is essential. Through this partnership with Eni UK, we bring our expertise to support the industry’s transition to a low-carbon future. By improving risk management, we help create more reliable and sustainable carbon capture projects.
We look forward to sharing more updates on our contributions to CCUS safety in the coming months. Stay tuned!
